Abstract:Bilateral internal iliac artery ligation is an invaluable tool in the management of massive obstetric hemorrhage. However complications could occur and if not properly managed it could result in morbidity or even mortality. We report a case of accidental injury to the internal iliac vein during internal iliac artery ligation for severe post partum hemorrhage with broad ligament and retroperitoneal hematoma due to rupture of uterus, which was successfully managed and the patient did well postoperatively.
